Khaya was the first translation app for Ghanaian languages relying on Machine Learning and Artificial Intelligence. It has expanded to other African languages, such as Yoruba, Kikuyu and Luo.

It also now includes Automatic Speech Recognition capabilities for Twi, Yoruba, Ga and Dagbani - speak directly to your phone and the app will transcribe your speech into text! For these languages, to the best of our knowledge, it was the first app offering such general speech recognition capabilities.

Please note that noise in your environment and quality of your mic can all affect transcription quality.

The underlying algorithms are various neural network architectures, built by Algorine Research on top of open source technology developed by Ghana NLP.
